About the NOVA Manassas Annual Student Art Show

Every year NOVA Manassas invites all students taking Fine Arts classes to submit to the Annual Student Art Show. Students are asked to submit their best work of the year to be seen by their peers and other members of the NOVA Manassas Community. This year, in these unique times, we are hosting it online for the very first time. We hope that through this format, more people than ever will see what strong work the students of NOVA Manassas make.

Gabriela Gutierrez, The prison of learning, Pencil on paper, 14' x 18', 2020. This artwork represents something broken. There are many reasons I believe the school system is broken, and this is one of them. The pandemic has forced kids to learn in different ways, but being in a computer half a day feels like a prison to some kids. I used my brother as inspiration since it has been difficult for him to adjust, he has mild autism and he is one of those kids who are not adjusting to the new system because it was not designed for him.

Celesta Ball, The Illusion of Memory, Acrylic, 9” x 12”, 2021 The memory of an event that never happened, involving someone who was never there
